Keeping Your Visits To The Dentist To A Minimum

Updated: Dec 17, 2018

A routine visit to the dentist is enough to fill some people with dread. Some research has recently been conducted which suggests that phobias linked to dental treatment could be hereditary.

There are steps that dentists can take to help to put their patients at ease. These include creating a calming environment through the use of colour schemes and artwork, as well as keeping medical instruments away from sight.

Although visits to the dentist are necessary, as part of a good oral hygiene routine, there are things that can be done to avoid the need for additional visits:

  • Daily brushing and flossing helps to keep the teeth and gums clean, avoiding a build up of plaque and tartar.

  • Some people have found that using coconut oil in a similar way to mouthwash can help to give the teeth and gums a thorough clean.

  • Baking soda can be used to clean and polish the teeth, creating a gleaming smile.
